What would be some causes of my bleeding during sex? Worried.
Dear Customer;
Thank you so much for using our service at AskMyGyn.com. It is our goal to make sure that you are satisfied and that you have your questions answered.
There are many possible explanations for bleeding during intercourse. It is important for you to be evaluated by your gynecologist to determine what the cause is. Most of the time, the causes are minor and easily treated, but occasionally it might be more serious. It is not worthwhile to worry about it, it is only important to be evaluated by your physician.
As far as the possible causes are concerned, there are many possibilities. Most of the time, something is causing inflammation in the vagina or on the cervix which gets irritated during intercourse. When your doctor does an exam, he/she will be looking for causes of inflammation.
Some examples are as follows: - Cervical Ectropion - this is a condition where there are glands on the cervix that are exposed to the vagina. They can get irritated but this is a completely benign condition, and is not a major problem.
- Genital Warts - Sometimes warts in the vagina or cervix and can get irritated during sex
- Cervical Dysplasia - Sometimes HPV infection of the cervix can cause dysplasia and inflammation of the cervix. This can be a cause of cervical cancer and absolutely needs to be evaluated and treated by your physician.
- Sexually Transmitted infections - trichomonas, chlamydia or other sexually infections can
cause the bleeding, these can usually be treated and are diagnosed by culture and physical exam. - Traumatic Injuries - sometimes sexual devices uch as vibrators, or vigorous intercourse
can be a cause of the bleeding, these may heal on their own, but sometimes require repair of they are significant. There are other possibilties, but these are some of the most common possibilities.

I'm 23 years old and have been on the pill, trinessa for about two years. About two weeks ago i forgot to take it for 3days in a row, and I began to bleed. Is this normal?
Dear Customer;
Thank you so much for using our service at AskMyGyn.com. It is our goal to make sure that you are satisfied and that you have your questions answered.
When someone is on the pill, whether it is trinessa or any other combination birth control pill, it is the pill that is preventing your uterus from bleeding. As soon as you stop taking it, you will have a withdrawal bleed. This is why people bleed when they are on the fourth week of the pill, because those pills have no medicine in it and your body is withdrawing from the hormones in the pill.
This is very common when people miss a few days of taking the pill. Especially when you miss two or three days, most women will have some bleeding. Speak to your doctor about how to restart you pills. Usually, you should restart a new pack either the first Sunday, or right away, and you must rely on another form of birth control such as condoms until you finish the next pack of pills.
